Who Is Your Mentor Girl?

Navigating the Path of Personal and Professional Growth: Celebrating National Mentoring Month!

Navigating the ever increasing challenges of personal and professional development, begs a question: Who’s your mentor?

Well, January marks National Mentoring Month, and as our team sets its sights on goals for the year ahead, we’re defining key principles for mentors who have meant the most for us.

  1. Worthy Example:

Select mentors who embody qualities you aspire to personally and professionally. Learning is most impactful when inspired, so seek mentors who have walked the journey you’re pursuing—their experiences become the wisdom that shapes you.

  1. Availability Matters:

Don’t aim for unreachable stars without a rocket. Look for mentors within your orbit—experienced and available. Time is the currency of mentorship, and having the opportunity to ask questions is invaluable.

  1. Choose Mentors by Their Experience:

“To know the road ahead, ask those coming back.” Learn from those who have walked the path before you. A mentor with proven experience provides insights, shortcuts, and invaluable lessons.

  1. Seek Wisdom:

A good mentor possesses wisdom, knowing when and how to tap into their experiences. It’s not just about knowledge; it’s about discernment.

  1. More Than a Friendship, It’s Support:

Beyond professional advice, a mentor should care for you on a personal level and be committed to seeing you succeed. The mentoring relationship is not a give/take but a give give.  It’s gratifying to help another human grow and succeed.  Both the mentor and the mentee must believe that!

  1. Don’t Expect a Coach:

A mentor is not just a growth tour guide; they possess inside information that can make a profound difference if you listen and learn.

As we embark on 2024, let’s celebrate the mentors who have shaped our paths and inspired our growth. Who’s your mentor, and what invaluable lessons have you learned on this journey? Share your mentorship stories!  And remember, our favorite goal for 2024 is getting a Mentor!
